Today’s Headlines:
- Applications for Carbon County School District #2’s principal vacancies are due by the end of the day. District Superintendent Jim Copeland said the interviewing process for the positions will be similar to how principals have been hired in the past.
- During Tuesday’s meeting, the Rawlins City Council unanimously approved the municipality’s proposed impact statement for the TB Flats Wind Energy project. Taking a different approach than other Carbon County communities, city staff in Rawlins developed a formula to justify the request.
- At the Legislature, confusion surrounded the “stand your ground bill” Wednesday. HB168 provides legal immunity to a person who uses defensive force against an attacker. It passed the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday on an 8 to 1 vote. The controversial bill expands the state’s castle doctrine to allow the use of deadly force in threatening situations outside a person’s home.
- The Rawlins City Council unanimously approved the renewal of 27 liquor licenses for 2018.
- The Saratoga boys basketball team will take the two seed into the Regional Tournament.
