The clerk for the Town of Hanna is retiring.
Today is the last day for Hanna Town Clerk Vivian Gonzales, who is retiring after nearly 18 years with the town. Gonzales announced her resignation during the May 13th Hanna Town Council meeting, where Mayor Charlie George thanked the clerk for her years of service. Gonzales said that after all that time, she was ready to step away from the position.
Mayor George said Gonzales, as clerk, carries out essential work for the town that many residents may not be aware of.
Clerk Gonzales said the position is sometimes thankless, but often rewarding.
The Hanna Town Council reluctantly voted to accept the clerk’s resignation. Kirbie Paulson will be taking over the position.
To celebrate Gonzales’s retirement, cake and refreshments will be served throughout the day at the Hanna Town Hall, located at 301 Adams Street. The public is invited to stop in and say goodbye.
