On the evening of October 12th, Buddy the dachshund was traveling with his people on I-80 when their truck rolled near mile marker 267 near the Wagonhound Rest Area. Buddy was nowhere to be found. He was wearing his brown sweater, collar and tags. His humans ended up staying at the Best Western CottonTree Inn in Rawlins and told the manager that Buddy was lost. The search was on.

Late Wednesday night, one of the tow truck companies returned to the scene to retrieve a trailer they’d left there. That’s when they saw Buddy’s tracks in the snow, and followed them. Buddy was found, apparently uninjured, and very cold and hungry after spending more than 24 hours in 20 degree weather and heavy snow on the side of the interstate. Buddy was promptly reunited with his people.

Thank you to everyone who kept an eye out for Buddy. We are so glad this story has a happy ending.
