The Board of Carbon County Commissioners, the Rawlins City Council, and Volunteers of America Northern Rockies have partnered to reopen the youth crisis center as soon as possible. Officials from all three agencies agree they’re taking a risk, but are willing to invest in the cause. The VOA’s Executive Director said the collaborative approach was necessary. If the agency were to rely on reimbursements from the state, it would operate at a more than $321,000 deficit annually. By pooling their funds, Carbon County and the City of Rawlins were able to shrink that deficit to $136,000. Cali O’Hare has the latest update in this ongoing story.
