The North Platte River at Saratoga is expected to reach 8.3 feet on Thursday of this week, triggering the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch warning.

The warning for Saratoga was issued Monday afternoon and remains in effect until future notice. In the statement, the weather service advised that low lying areas in the Deer Haven Park just north on town east of Wyoming Highway 130 could begin to be impacted by flood waters. Other low lying areas in town, including Veterans Island Park, could see impacts, as well, according to the statement from the National Weather Service.

Rising waters could create unstable surfaces near river edges through the week.

By Monday afternoon, the North Platte River had risen to 7.6 feet. Action stage is 7.5 feet. The forecast shows the river hitting 8.3 feet, just below “Minor Flood” stage of 8.5 feet on Friday morning, May 19.

The National Weather Service advises that rising waters from the spring runoff could create unstable surfaces near river edges through next week.
