New staff members join Platte Valley Clinic
At a community meeting hosted by the Healthcare Sustainability Project Committee in the Platte Valley, Health Management Services, the new operator of the medical clinic in Saratoga, provided an update on new staff members and the progress on hiring a full time physician. Emma Diercks reports.

Wheatland Elementary School evacuated after bomb threat
Coming on the heels of Tuesday’s handgun incident at the Rawlins K2-5 classroom building, an elementary school in Wheatland experienced a scare of its own yesterday. A bomb threat cleared the West Elementary School for a time Thursday. Around 11:30 a.m., the Wheatland Police Department requested a bomb sniffing K-9 unit from the Wyoming Highway Patrol after a threat to the West Elementary school was received.
The patrol said in a statement that the threat was specific to the school. Students were moved to another campus. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reports that no suspicious devices were located. Students and staff were allowed to return to the building around 1:45 p.m. The Wheatland Police Department is investigating the threat.
Nonprofits encouraged to apply for grant funding
Wyoming Community Gas is reminding all governmental entities, as well as 501(c)(3) nonprofits, that they are eligible to apply for grant funding to cover the costs of community improvement, and arts and culture projects. As the Rawlins City Council considers possible projects, it is encouraging local nonprofit and ancillary agencies to do the same. Cali O’Hare has more.
