Wyoming Highway 70 over the Battle Pass opened for the warm-weather season Monday afternoon.

WYDOT crews started work on the 23-mile stretch of scenic byway in early May, using multiple rotary plows and other heavy equipment to clear large drifts of snow.

Motors should use caution if traveling WYO 70 between Encampment and Baggs. Severe weather is still possible over the mountain pass where the highway elevation reaches 9,995 feet. Check road conditions before you travel.

Wyo 130, the Snowy Range Road, remains closed, although WYDOT crews strive to open Carbon County’s other scenic byway in time for the Memorial Day Weekend.
