The weekend’s soaking rains and cool temperatures have put a choke-hold on the Ryan Fire. Officials with the national incident team in charge of suppression efforts say fire activity has been minimal since last weekend.

Crews have focused on building buck-and-rail fence around dozer lines to prevent further disturbance in those areas. Engines are patrolling burn zones for hot spots. The number of personnel assigned to the fire was scaled back to 159 as of Sunday.

The Ryan Fire is estimated at 28,585 acres in size and 35 percent contained. While officials reported two weeks ago that the fire was likely the result of an escaped campfire, the investigation is ongoing.
