Saratoga’s newest addition is a sign of the times.

You may have noticed that the old marquee sign outside of the Saratoga Town Hall was looking a little worn out. Many of its electronic segments no longer lit up and the sponsor placards were rusty and outdated.

Last year, the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce began looking into ways to improve the old sign. New chamber director Amanda Knotwell discovered that the sign so out-of-date, it could not be repaired. Knotwell said she set out to purchase a modern LED billboard.

The new sign needed a custom frame and all new electronics. Thanks to Raymer Construction, Bison State Electric and Bridger Fabrication, the town will have its new marquee ready soon.

Knotwell said the sign would have been up and running by the end of this week, but it was missing two critical items. The company that made the sign did not include an automatic dimming device or a weather-proof box to house the wireless signal components.

The new sign will act as a digital town crier, relaying news and events to the people of Saratoga. Knotwell says that it is even possible to live-stream to it.
