In Saratoga, Ordinance 862 is back before Town Council. The ordinance to amend Chapter 5.30 of town code for specially permitted events surfaced briefly last summer before being tabled for further review.

Last week, council unanimously passed a draft version in title only. The amendment addresses events with both more or less than 50 people. It will be vetted at public hearings during second and third readings.

Councilman Jon Nelson, who drafted the amendment, said the intent is to clean up conflicting and confusing language in existing municipal code, especially overnight camping.

Nelson requested that the clerk post the draft ordinance on the Town of Saratoga website so residents and organizers of events can review prior to second reading. Councilwoman D’Ron Campbell seconded the motion to pass the ordinance, which passed unanimously. The amendment is posted to the town’s website. It will like be taken up on second reading Tuesday night.
