At a short and sometimes contentious special town council meeting, a third attempt at a representation letter to accountant James Childress from Saratoga Mayor John Zeiger passed three to one Wednesday evening.

The purpose of any representation letter is to make clear that the financial statements in a report or audit are management’s representations and thus management, in this case town hall, has the primary responsibility for their accuracy.

The amended letter passed last night protects Childress from any litigation brought by outside parties. Emma Diercks has more.
