Rawlins City Manager Sean Metcalf made it official. The long-awaited skate park may open later this month.

The skate park will be located on the old tennis courts adjacent to the newly opened dog park at Key Club Park. In city hall’s Behind the Scenes report released on Friday, the city manager said ramps will be installed in the coming weeks after they arrive.

Parks and Recreation Director Jason Sehon told Bigfoot 99 last month that a couple of things have to happen before the skate park opens.

Sehon was excited that the skate park will open this fall. In the city’s news release, City Manager Metcalf said one of the key goals of the Rawlins Parks and Recreation Department is to improve the quality of life for residents. The more quality recreational opportunities there are, the more people want to live, work, and play in Rawlins, the city manager said in the statement.
