The volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul in Rawlins expect to give out 300 Christmas food baskets at tomorrow’s distribution event outside St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Between the high cost of food and the ongoing ripple effects caused by COVID-19, the volunteers say they’re ready to serve record numbers. Cali O’Hare has all the details.

Those who need regular groceries a little sooner should drop by a separate mobile food pantry planned later today from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Carbon County Fairgrounds in Rawlins. Enter through the gate on Harshman Street. This distribution was rescheduled following last week’s storms. There is a limit of one order per family, and two orders per vehicle. For more information on today’s food pantry at the fairgrounds, call 307-324-2408.
Additionally, anyone who still needs a Christmas gift for a child should contact Mike Lujan at 307-321-6453. Last year, the toy drive ensured 467 children living in Rawlins, Sinclair, Saratoga, Hanna, Medicine Bow and even Muddy Gap had presents under the tree on Christmas morning.
