In sports, the Cowboy coaching staff says the team is more disappointed in themselves than fans are about the last three conference losses. So the Pokes are on a mission this week. Find a way to win. They’ll be doing it with a new starting quarterback on center.

Coach Craig Bohl publicly talked for the first time last night about the decision to make sophomore Levi Williams the starter. It wasn’t easy, Bohl said, but a shakeup was necessary.

The trail leads right to the defending Mountain West Champion – San Jose State. If Levi Williams isn’t the same guy he was last year, the Spartans aren’t the same team. Their 4-4 overall, 2-and-2 in conference play this year.

Coach Bohl said this week’s opponent is facing their own adversity right now. They appear to be dealing with it. The Spartans star quarterback Nick Starkel, a senior was injured at the end of September. After tinkering with a red-shirt freshman, San Jose State settled on junior Nick Nash.

Bohl said despite the skid Wyoming is experiencing, moral remains high. The team is practicing hard this week in preparation for the road trip. Bohl said there’s no losing attitudes in Laramie.

One of the cornerstones of the Wyoming offense right now is Xavier Valladay. The X-Man is the fourth leading rusher in Cowboy history. Valladay talked about what it’s going to take to get the fifth win of the season on Saturday.

Saturday’s all-important conference matchup at San Jose State kicks at 2 p.m. Bigfoot 99 will be on the air with the pre-game show beginning at 12:30 p.m.
