Rawlins residents make the most of Free Dump Days
The five employees at the Rawlins Municipal Landfill looked a little tuckered Monday morning. The small, hard-working crew assisted nearly 1,700 residents during the 2019 Free Dump Days.
The week-long event concluded Sunday, but the work isn’t done yet. The crew still has to dispose of several hundred tons worth of construction and demolition waste. Cali O’Hare sat down with the Landfill Superintendent Marty Holloway to talk trash by the numbers and what comes next for the landfill crew.
CCSD2 hires new principal
Carbon County School District Two hired a new principal for the elementary schools in Hanna, Elk Mountain and Medicine Bow.

Rawlins rec center programs to relocate during closure
The major flooring project at the Rawlins Family Recreation Center gets underway next week, and members will experience interruptions.
Work to replace the floors in the multipurpose room and on the indoor walking track will force a two-and-a-half week long closure of the building. Many of the rec center’s programs, including spinning class and the morning coffee group will carry on but in different locations. Cali O’Hare has the details.

Committee looks to reduce prison population with “good time” credit
In Wyoming, many people sentenced to prison spend time in county jails before being transferred to a state facility. Currently, that time is not counted against their sentence.
The Wyoming Department of Corrections, however, is working with state lawmakers to prepare legislation that would allow those inmates to receive a “good time served” allowance for the time spent behind bars in a county jail. Emma Diercks has the story.
