Saratoga councilman takes aim at landfill issues
Saratoga Town Councilman Steve Wilcoxson has introduced two petitions seeking changes at the landfill and transfer station.
One is collecting signatures of residents who want the landfill to be open on Sundays. The other proposes a concrete berm be built between where commercial haulers and residents dump their trash.
Both issues brought produced heated comments from landfill board chair Randy Raymer at last Wednesday’s meeting of the Upper Platte Solid Waste Disposal District meeting. Emma Diercks was there and filed this report.
New WIC guidelines for Wyoming residents
The Wyoming Department of Health last week announced new guidelines for women and families in need of nutritional food and other support through the WIC Program.

Saratoga planning and zoning position still vacant
In Saratoga, the position of planning and zoning officer remains unfilled. The job has been open since March. Its part-time status may have a bearing on the relative lack of interest. Emma Diercks has more.
Rawlins officials question use of community gas funds
The City of Rawlins will receive a record amount of funding from the Wyoming Community Gas Choice Gas Program this year.
In coming months, city council will select a project to be funded using over $10,000 from this year’s distribution.
Before that happens, however, at least one council member wants to know whatever happened to the projects selected in 2017 and 2018. They have not been finished yet.
