Hanna man faces federal charges in child exploitation case
The Hanna man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography has been detained by the U.S. Marshal’s office pending a preliminary hearing set for federal court next week.
Earlier this week, the Carbon County Attorney’s Office agreed to dismiss the charges against Michael Pipher so that the federal charges could be brought against him. Bigfoot 99’s Cali O’Hare has the latest in this developing story.
Saratoga councilman expresses payroll concerns
During this week’s Saratoga Town Council meeting, councilman Jon Nelson questioned the numbers presented in the clerk’s bi-monthly payroll report.
Although the payables were ultimately approved by council over Nelson’s objection, his questions remained unanswered. Emma Diercks has the story.
Pedro Mountain Fire 88 percent contained
A local Type 4 Incident Team will take over command of operations at the Pedro Mountain Fire today. The statewide Type 3 team that has been on the ground for more than a week will transfer command duties to the local firefighters today.
The fire, which was started by lightening on August 24th is 88 percent contained. It has burned 23,408 acres. As command changes, only 130 firefighters remain on the scene—down from nearly 400 earlier this week.
Rawlins underpass will close for repairs
In Rawlins, drivers are advised that the underpass that connects the south side to Cedar Street downtown will soon temporarily close for repairs and maintenance. Cali O’Hare has the details.
Correction: the Washington Street Underpass will be closed from Monday, September 16th through Friday, September 20th.
