CCSD1 steps up computer science program

The Wyoming Department of Education is one of nine entities across the country to obtain a federal grant to strengthen computer science.

In Carbon County, School District One is a project partner in this venture. Emma Diercks has the story.

Commissioners appoint Shinkle to tourism board

Rawlins City Council twice shrugged off local hotel manager Casey Shinkle’s qualifications when he applied for the municipality’s open seat on the board of the Carbon County Visitors Council.

Shinkle was rejected both times, and after 16 month, the city’s seat on the board is still unfilled. However, when the county’s representative on the visitor’s council stepped down recently, commissioners appointed Shinkle at their first opportunity.

USFS seeking wilderness solitude monitors

Here’s an offer you might not be able to refuse. The forest ranger is looking for people to spend time in the wilderness areas of the Sierra Madres. Your mission: Monitor the solitude the areas offer. The U.S. Forest Service says hunters, hikers, and horseback riders are perfect candidates for this volunteer opportunity.
