Today is Veteran’s Day. In Rawlins activities, patriotic celebrations and even special meals are planned to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Saratoga moves forward with limited grant for airport apron
In Saratoga, with the account balance of the airport fund still in doubt, Town Council has agreed to apply for a design-only grant for an apron expansion at the airfield.
Council members went for the limited grant because they did not feel that the town could guarantee the higher amount of matching funds needed for a design and construction grant. Emma Diercks has the story.
Rawlins approves scrap metal bid
Rawlins City Council has once again contracted with Green River Wrecking to purchase metal from the landfill.
Council members approved the agreement during last week’s meeting even though it was not the highest bid.
Cali O’Hare reports that a second offer would have paid more money, but also would have required more manpower than Rawlins likely can provide.
Saratoga landfill on track for closure
The Upper Platte River Solid Waste Disposal District is on track to close the Saratoga landfill.
The board’s engineer updated the district’s board members at Wednesday’s meeting, noting that the closure application is to be submitted next month.
Sports: Lady Outlaws win State Championship
It was an outstanding weekend for the county sports teams as the Lady Outlaws brought home a state championship, and another is on tap for next weekend. Joey Saverine has the story.
