Snow drifts cause traffic troubles in Rawlins
Mother Nature has outmatched the understaffed Streets Division in Rawlins this week. Despite working around the clock to clear lingering and blowing snow from city streets, high winds and extreme drifting have made some streets impassable.
A portion of Harshman Street was closed for that very reason. In other parts of the city, multiple school buses became stuck or were involved in collisions on the snow-packed streets Tuesday. Thankfully, no injuries were sustained. Cali O’Hare reports.
Keel: No conflict of interest in Platte Valley healthcare issues
In Saratoga, Town Councilman Bob Keel, who works for Memorial Hospital in Rawlins, does not believe he had a conflict of interest in voting last month against a letter of support for a critical access hospital proposed for the Platte Valley. The facility would compete against Keel’s employer.
The physician’s assistant addressed the concern at Tuesday’s town council meeting. Emma Diercks has the story.
Victim program earns high marks
Carbon County’s Victim Witness Program has received the equivalent of an A+ score from the Wyoming Office of the Attorney General Division of Victim Services. Earlier this week, the coordinator of the program presented the results to the Board of Carbon County Commissioners. Cali O’Hare has the details.
Art Street Project finds a home
In Rawlins: the Art Street Project, a 501c3 nonprofit focused on the arts, has found a permanent home downtown.
The new space, located next to the Rawlins Chamber of Commerce on West Cedar Street, was made possible by a grant from the Wyoming Community Foundation. Cali O’Hare has the story.
