Restaurants and bars in Wyoming will be able to open their doors to the public next weekend. Some counties, including Carbon, could see them open sooner.

Governor Mark Gordon yesterday announced the further easing of public health restrictions that have been in place for nearly two months. As part of the rollback, at least 14 counties have been granted countywide variances on restaurants, churches and public gatherings.

The state public health officer included Carbon County’s request for variances Friday morning. By next Friday, variances may not be necessary. The governor said many of the restrictions in place since mid-March will expire on May 15th.

The governor added that restaurant and bar owners will have to implement the measures, noting that no business wants to become the source of a major outbreak.

The governor is also looking to ease the restriction that kept houses of worship shut throughout the crisis.

The county-wide variance for Carbon County, issued May 8th includes churches, as well as, movie theaters.

The provisions are as follows:

The governor said he is also allowing the 14-day quarantine order for out-of-state visitors here for recreational purposes to expire tomorrow. Five-day fishing licenses will go back on sale Friday. The governor said he is trying to move as quickly as possible, and as safely as possible, to lift the restrictions.

As part of the general easing of restrictions, the Carbon County Courthouse and other government offices will reopen today. County Commissioners passed the resolution earlier this week and it goes into effect today. Statewide restrictions are still in place, though.
