Like more than half of the counties in the United States, Carbon County does not have a psychiatrist who can diagnose mental illness and prescribe the proper medication.

Counselors and psychologists play an important role for many, but their services fall short when it comes to diagnosing and managing chronic mental illness conditions.

Memorial Hospital of Carbon County is striving to bridge the gap in access to quality psychiatric care by adding a new telehealth service called Qler (pronounced “clear”).

For now, the program is available through MHCC’s Emergency Room, connecting people experiencing a mental health crisis to one of six psychiatrists licensed to practice in Wyoming. Bigfoot 99’s Cali O’Hare sat down with providers at MHCC and filed this report.
