The results from Tuesday’s election are now official. The Carbon County Clerk’s Office issued a statement last night saying that the canvass board reviewed and finalized the results Wednesday.

As part of the process an automatic recount of the Sinclair Town Council race was conducted, but the result was unchanged. Leo Black edged out Emily Townsend by two votes for a seat on the town council there.

The county clerk also reported that of the total of 6,704 votes cast in the General Election, 43 percent of them — 2,886 — were absentee ballots. County Clerk Gwynn Bartlett called that a record number, and more than double the number of absentee ballots cast in 2016. The official results are posted on the Carbon County Clerk’s website.
