As prolonged stretches of cold weather draws near, the Utilities Division in Rawlins is reminding residents of simple steps they can take to prevent frozen pipes and meters. The city-owned waterlines are also susceptible to freezing. The utilities crew spends much of the winter responding to waterline breaks. Last winter, they handled more than 30 breaks. The division is prepping for the winter season after wrapping up summer maintenance projects, including cleaning more than 12 miles worth of sewer line. Cali O’Hare sat down with the foreman and has the story.
