The writing’s on the scoreboard. Wyoming Head Coach Craig Bohl is looking for a way to stop the skid. Through the three-game losing streak, the Cowboy defense has done enough to keep a win in sight.

The offense has been ineffective in every category: Turnovers, completion percentage, points, explosive plays, dominating the line of scrimmage… You name it, the offense under new coordinator Tim Polasek is in need of life support.

Bohl said at Monday’s news conference that he’s looking at everything except doing Polasek’s job.

So Bohl is back to looking at the starting quarterback. As he promised, Bohl didn’t announce that Sean Chambers was going to start against New Mexico until game time. The decision might have been designed to build confidence in Chambers. After a scoreless first quarter, Levi Williams went under no center. The results weren’t much different. Last week Bohl kept the quarterback competition between Chambers and Williams. Will the other three signal callers be up for consideration this week? Unknown. All we do know is we won’t have to wait until game to know this week.

Bohl gave no indication if the other three quarterbacks on the roster—Utah transfer Jayden Clemons and redshirt freshmen Gavin Beerup and Hank Gibbs—will be for consideration this week.

The list of things that need fixed is not a short one. Bohl clicked through it item by item.

Last week, Bohl said fixing those problems is his job because he has the word coach on his shirt.

He’s got the salary to go with it. At a reported $1.6 million a year, Bohl has the top ranked salary among Mountain West coaches. Wyoming sits at the bottom of the division with an 0-3 conference record. One of the lowest paid coaches, Danny Gonzales, got the best of the Cowboys last week. Bohl will go a long way to earning his keep if he can turn his team around in the next four days and pick up a win at San Jose State.
