The 15-acre Balsam Draw Fire that was first reported Monday afternoon in the Shirley Mountains appears under control Tuesday morning. The fire appears to be contained to Bureau of Land Management property.

Carbon County Emergency Management stated in a report that both county and federal resources responded to the fire. Aviation resources were ordered up after access proved difficult for engines on the ground. Fire retardant was applied Monday afternoon and the fire settled down overnight as temperatures cooled. Emergency Management reported that BLM crews are open to have the fire fully contained today.
