Saratoga police are no longer writing tickets by hand or communicating with dispatch using outdated technology.
As reported by Bigfoot 99 earlier this month, Saratoga PD have upgraded both their computer aided dispatch and ticket writing software to be more in line with the rest of the county. The new Spillman dispatch system will allow Saratoga, Encampment, and Ryan Park emergency calls to automatically integrate with Rawlins PD and the county sheriff’s office. The new computer-aided dispatch system, or CAD, allows various agencies in the county to communicate with each other. Sharing information means a faster response time for emergency services.
In conjunction with the CAD, Saratoga PD have rolled out DigiTicket, an electronic ticketing program. Munson said officers can issue a digital citation that is automatically transferred into the new CAD system.
During last Tuesday’s Saratoga Town Council meeting, Town Clerk Marie Christen, said there had been 15 tickets issued using the new system. She mentioned to the council that the digital tickets were clearer than hand-written citations.
When a motorist receives a warning or citation, the responding officer enters the information into the DigiTicket software. The violator receives a printed copy of the digital ticket and the traffic stop information is automatically uploaded into the new Spillman system. It is then shared with other agencies in the county. Information sharing gives Carbon County responders an advantage when responding to and keeping track of emergencies. Also, it will help eliminate errors caused by illegible writing and allow the town to keep a permanent digital record of all violations.
