Here’s a chance to have your art featured on the Platte Valley Arts Council Facebook page.

The Platte Valley Arts Council is searching for local artists to showcase online as a cover artist. Stacy Crimmins is the Platte Valley Arts Council treasurer. She explained what the PVAC is looking for.

Every month, the chosen artist is displayed as the Platte Valley Arts Council’s Facebook cover photo. Tattoo artist and PVAC Vice-President Shirley Hillyard is the featured artist for January. Crimmins said the Arts Council is open to a broad variety of art styles.

This Thursday, January 19th, the Platte Valley Arts Council is hosting a $15 a person, Crafts, Chats, and Cheers event at the Red Wagon, in Encampment. Crimmins said the Arts Council sponsors a different craft event each month.

December’s Crafts, Chats, and Cheers focused on gift wrapping and creating Christmas cards. Crimmins said, this month, participants will learn how to construct dreamcatchers with Hillyard.

January 28th and 29th is the 36th Annual Sierra Madre Winter Carnival in Encampment. The Platte Valley Arts Council is judging and supplying prize money for the snow painting contest.

Anyone interested in being featured as the Platte Valley Arts Council’s cover artist is asked to contact the council through Facebook.
