U.S. Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis have joined Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) in introducing legislation that would nullify the new Biden administration law which would increase the upfront costs of homes and impact what appliances people in put in their homes.
Wyoming’s senior senator put it this way. “For years, President Biden has pushed an extreme energy agenda that drives up the cost of owning a home and feeding a family. People in Wyoming and across the country are seeing this fundamental part of the American Dream slipping further and further out of reach.
The bill, called the Homeowner Energy Freedom Act, would reverse harmful energy policies that increase the costs of owning and maintaining a home. It will also help ensure that Wyoming families are able to choose what appliances to buy – without interference from climate extremists in Washington,” said Senator Barrasso.
Wyoming’s junior senator, Lummis, also sponsored the bill. “The last thing people in Wyoming need is the Biden administration deciding what stove they should cook dinner on or how they should keep their home warm in the winter, especially when it comes with a hefty price tag,” said Senator Lummis. “The falsely named Inflation Reduction Act has been a perfect example of big government meddling, prices going up and consumers footing the bill.”
The White House named its bill the Inflation Reduction Act, even though it authorized billions of borrowed dollars be spent to push state and local governments to upgrade energy efficiency standards across the country. Barrasso said in yesterday’s release that the impact of changing standards could increase the upfront costs of a home by more than $20,000.
