Drive-up flu vaccinations begin today in Saratoga. COVID vaccines are being offered at the same time.
In anticipation of flu season, Carbon County Public Health is offering vaccines across the county. Busy residents may choose to receive their vaccine at one of two mobile vaccination stations.
Speaking at Tuesday’s Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, Health Outreach Coordinator Megan Cragun said vaccines will be offered this afternoon in Saratoga. Cragun said next Saturday, October 14th, drive up vaccines will be available in Rawlins.
Cragun said the newest COVID 19 vaccine will also be available at all vaccine clinics in the county. Commissioner John Johnson said he received both his flu and COVID shots at the same time. Carbon County Health Officer Dr. Duane Ables said he did as well. Despite experiencing a bit of arm pain, Dr. Ables said he recommends receiving both shots.
The county health officer said COVID is making a comeback.
Cragun presented the board with the latest COVID statistics. Cragun said Carbon County has 19 confirmed cases of COVID. Dr. Ables said Memorial Hospital of Carbon County has one person sick with the coronavirus. Cragun said the North Platte Valley Medical Center, in Saratoga, has reported an unknown number of COVID related hospitalizations.
Also at Tuesday’s commissioners meeting, Cragun said Carbon County Public Health is now offering a free phone app called Docket. Cragun said Docket allows people to compile all their vaccination records into a single program.
Docket is available for free on both Android and iPhone.
Flu and COVID vaccines are being offered today, from 2:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Platte Valley Community Center parking lot in Saratoga. Next Wednesday, October 11th, Carbon County Public Health will offer vaccines at the Encampment Senior Center from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The following Saturday, the mobile clinic will set up in the Tractor Supply parking lot in Rawlins from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
