The Saratoga Police Department has received its first police vehicle with the new purple and gold Panther graphics.
During the September 5th Saratoga town council meeting, Police Chief Mike Morris said he would be changing the livery of the town’s police vehicles. The police chief said he had narrowed the selection down to two color options: blue and gray or purple and gold. Chief Morris said he would let the Saratoga school students vote on the one they liked best.
At the September 19th town council meeting, Chief Morris said, unsurprisingly, the students chose the purple and gold Panther colors. At the time, the police chief said he was still looking for a company to install the new graphics packages.
At last week’s Saratoga town council meeting, Chief Morris said he selected Sign Krafts, in Rawlins, to apply the decals. The police chief said the business is owned by Rawlins mayor Terry Weickum.
Chief Morris said Sign Krafts submitted the lowest bid. The police chief said he is only having the new purple and gold graphics installed on his three newest police vehicles.
Yesterday, Chief Morris brought the first of the newly decaled vehicles to the Bigfoot99 studio. The word Saratoga is written in gold cursive above a gold outline of the word Police. Both words are printed over a curving purple stripe coming from the rear wheel well. Behind the rear tire is the Saratoga Panther’s logo in purple and gold. On the back, the words Panther Pride are written beside another Saratoga Panther’s logo.

Chief Morris said the new designs have been installed on two of the three vehicles.
At the October 17th Saratoga town council meeting, Chief Morris said he wasn’t going to have the new livery applied to his white police pickup truck. The police chief said the truck needs major repairs and may end up being sold.
The Saratoga PD also has a white SUV equipped for K-9 units. After the death of Officer Glen Kasner, the police department no longer has a K-9 trained officer and will likely sell the SUV as well.
Chief Morris said he will be unveiling the new Panther-inspired graphics to the Saratoga school students today.
