The Wyoming Cowboys needed a second-half comeback that never materialized in Boise Saturday night. The Cowboys fell to Boise State 32-7. With back-to-back losses on either side of the bye week, Wyoming stands at 5-and-3 on the season, 2-and-2 in Mountain West Play.
Quarterback Andrew Peasley was sacked twice and completed 10-of-20 passes for 85 yards. One of those passes was a strike to John Michael Gylleborg in the end zone near the end of the first quarter.
Keith Kelly had the call on the only bright spot in a game that turned ugly for the Cowboys. The end zone would stay out of reach for Wyoming during the next three quarters. Running back Harrison Waylee was in the lineup but generated only 18 yards rushing.
Head coach Craig Bohl talked at length after the game about Wyoming’s weakest offensive game of the season. The Cowboys said his team “wasn’t ready to play.”
The short week for the Cowboys began as soon as they arrived in Laramie Saturday night, if not on the plane trip home. The Border War is set for this Friday. The short schedule leaves no time to mope over the loss at Boise.
Part of the challenge this week, Coach Bohl said, is looking at what schemes they’re drawing up and what players are on the field. Not many of the x’s and o’s worked Saturday night.
Colorado State comes to Laramie Friday night for the 115th meeting in the Border War rivalry that dates back to 1899.
