The Hanna Elementary School is hosting its first corn hole tournament later this month.
Last November, educators at the Hanna Elementary School held a county-wide trivia night. Fourth grade teacher Sarah Jones said staff wanted to provide more activities for residents to do in the winter months. Jones said school staff decided to hold a corn hole tournament instead of another trivia contest.
The first Hanna Elementary School corn hole tournament will be Tuesday, February 27th. Jones said the date was selected to avoid conflicts with school sports schedules.
Corn hole competitors will receive free food during the event. Jones said walking tacos will give participants a convenient food to enjoy between games.
Jones said childcare will be available during the corn hole tournament. Children kindergarten age and up can be dropped off at the Hanna Recreation Center before the games. Jones said younger kids can be brought to the Hanna Elementary school.
Jones said parents are welcome to bring their children to the tournament, but they must be properly supervised to avoid interfering with the games.
The registration fee is $20 a team before the tournament or $25 a team to register at the door. Jones said prizes will be awarded at the event. However, Jones said the prizes haven’t been finalized yet.
Jones said staff and community members have donated seven regulation sized corn hole boards to the school. Jones said she hopes to have enough boards for 20 teams to compete at once.
The first Hanna Elementary School corn hole tournament is Tuesday, February 27th. The tournament is open to everyone 18 and older. Food will be served at 5:30 pm. The tournament begins at 6:00pm. A copy of the registration form can be obtained from the Hanna Elementary school. Flyers will also be posted online.
