The Cowboys fell at home to Utah State University 76-84 Wednesday night.
The USU improves to 21-4 overall with the win and 9-3 in conference play. Wyoming falls to 12-12 on the season and below 500 in Mountain West at 5-and-6.
The Aggies found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring the Pokes by a dozen with 61 % shooting. Meanwhile, Wyoming did not have enough fire power to match USU. The Pokes shot just 33%. The first-place Aggies have a lot of weapons and took control of the game.
Jeff Linder said the Cowboys battled hard but were outmanned by a larger, more physical team.
The Aggies bench scored 26 points last night, a sign of their depth and ability to rotate fresh players into a game at key points. The Aggies were physical at the rim, as well.
The Cowboys must regroup quickly. They head out on the road for two straight. First up is San Jose State Saturday night. The tip is set for 8 p.m. Bigfoot 99 will have the contest beginning with the pregame show at 7:30.
