The town of Medicine Bow has contracted with the Carbon County Senior Center and the local clinic in the town to ensure residents have access to medications and other health services. During the April 8th Medicine Bow town council meeting, the board passed two resolutions to purchase services from the Medicine Bow Health Clinic and the Carbon County Senior Center.
Town Clerk and Treasurer Karen Heath read the first resolution: 2024-1. Heath said the purchase agreement requires the Medicine Bow Health Clinic to stock medications and other medical supplies for residents in exchange for a $500 payment from the town.
The agreement runs until the end of the current fiscal year, June 30th, 2024.
At the March 11th Medicine Bow town council meeting, Mayor Justin George said the town contracted with the local clinic in the past. Mayor George said the agreement ensures residents do not have to travel out of town to have their prescriptions filled.
The town also introduced Resolution 2024-2 during the April 8th meeting. Clerk Heath said the second resolution is a purchase agreement with Carbon County Senior Services. The town clerk said the agreement requires the county senior center to provide all Medicine Bow residents over the age of 60 with a variety of health and wellness services.
The town agreed to pay Carbon County Senior Services $625 for the listed amenities. The agreement is also set to end on June 30th of this year.
Public Works Director Brian Lashley asked how they can ensure the money doesn’t go to other towns in Carbon County. Mayor George said the contract specifies that the services must be provided to residents of Medicine Bow.
Both contracts are set to terminate at the end of the current fiscal year. Reentering the agreements will be discussed during upcoming budget meetings.
