The Sinclair Baptist Church is holding a belated Easter egg hunt this Saturday.
This year’s Easter was celebrated on Sunday, March 31st. Many of the scheduled egg hunts on Easter Sunday, were cancelled or moved indoors because of the heavy snow that fell that day.
Liz Smith is the Director of Children’s Ministry for the Sinclair Baptist Church. Smith said her organization chose to wait until May 4th to hold the make-up Easter egg hunt. Because May 4th is often referred to as Star Wars Day, “May the Fourth be with you,” Smith said Saturday’s event will be themed after the famous movie franchise.
Smith said volunteers from the Baptist church will be hiding 12,000 plastic eggs around Washington Park, across from the Parco Inn. Prizes will be awarded to kids that find specially marked eggs. Smith was unable to say exactly what the special prizes will be. However, the children’s ministry director said the event will also offer other fun activities for people to do.
Smith said some of the eggs may or may not contain money.
Children will be separated by age group during Saturday’s Easter egg hunt. Smith said for safety, kids of different ages will hunt for Easter eggs in different areas of Washington Park.
The egg hunt kicks off at 1:00pm sharp. Smith said before the event, the Baptist church will hold a free hot dog lunch.
Smith said everyone is invited to an ice cream social in the Parco Inn after all the eggs have been found.
The Sinclair Baptist Church’s Star Wars themed Easter egg hunt is this Saturday, May 4th, at Washington Park in Sinclair. The free hotdog lunch will begin at 12:30pm. The Easter egg hunt starts at 1:00pm with the youngest kids going first. Afterwards, the Baptist church will host an ice cream social across the street from the park, in the Parco Inn.
The first 25 kids to arrive for the event will receive a free Yoda hat.
Smith encouraged everyone to attend the family friendly event.
