In Saratoga, today is the first day of school. Caution is advised if you’re behind the wheel of a car or truck. The Saratoga Police Department and school bus drivers are reminding everyone you should be extremely cautious when driving.

You are reminded to pay attention to the speed limits in school zones, watch for children crossing the streets, not just at intersections, but along all streets.

Also, obey the warning and STOP signs displayed by school buses along the bus routes.

One significant change this year applies to the Bus Loading/Unloading area at the Saratoga Elementary School.  The Saratoga Public Works Department in conjunction with Carbon School District #2 Transportation Department installed barricades On Elm Avenue on the south side of the school.  These barricades readily define the Loading/Unloading area and create a separate roadway or lane to be used only for the buses.

The new barriers at the school provide a safer more secure area for the children getting on and off the buses. Traffic on Elm Avenue will no longer be required to stop while the buses are being loaded or off loaded. This change will be less disruptive to the flow of traffic.

Saratoga Police Officers will have extra patrols along the bus routes, crosswalks, and school zones.

The Saratoga Police remind motorists to “Be Safe, Not Sorry.”
