The Hanna town council reversed direction Friday and placed citizen’s participation back on the agenda after removing it earlier in the week.

Bigfoot99 reported on Friday morning that the Hanna town council had removed the public comment portion of its meetings following a brief debate among council members.

At the August 13th town council meeting, Mayor Jayson Nordquist announced that members of the public must be on the agenda before being allowed to address the governing body. Mayor Nordquist said attendees were interrupting the meetings too often.

By eliminating the citizen participation portion from the meeting, the town required the public to visit the Hanna town hall, days in advance, to request being added to the agenda. Only then would the individual be permitted to speak during the meeting.

Mayor Nordquist indicated that he was willing to place citizen’s participation back on the agenda if the other council members agreed.

At around 11:00 Friday morning, a notice was posted to the official Hanna Wyoming Facebook page saying that citizen’s participation was back on the agenda. The public will once again be given an opportunity to address the governing body near the end of future town council meetings.
