Hanna’s HEM Miner Booster Club is hosting a night of free food, fun, and fire in the high school parking lot.

On Monday, October 14th, the HEM Miner Booster Club is holding the first ever Pack the Parking Lot event at the Hanna Elk Mountain Medicine Bow High School. Booster Club President Shawn Dahl explained that the event is a way for the town to support the high school football and volleyball teams.

After leaving the Hanna Recreation Center, a precession of floats and trailers will make its way to the HEM High School. At that point, Dahl said booster club members will provide free food and drinks for all attendees. A DJ will also be playing music during the event.

After the food, Dahl said the senior football and volleyball teams will take the stage on a converted flatbed trailer to get the crowd excited for that week’s homecoming games against Encampment. As part of the rally, a bonfire will be lit.

Before the event, Dahl said Hanna elementary and high school students will be given an opportunity to write encouraging messages to the football and volleyball teams on large banners. The signed banners will be hung around town. Dahl encouraged everyone to attend next week’s free event.

With approximately 20 kids per class plus their parents, Dahl said 1,000 people could potentially attend Monday’s Pack the Parking Lot event. However, Dahl said he is only expecting half that number. The booster club president said he hopes the event will become a new tradition for Hanna students.

The HEM Miner Booster Club’s Pack the Parking Lot event is this coming Monday, October 14th, in the HEM High School parking lot, located at 602 Jefferson Street in Hanna. The booster club will begin serving food at 6:00pm.
