The public is invited to play cornhole, paint a pumpkin, and compete in a chili cookoff this weekend at the 2nd Annual Saratoga Fall Fest.

The event was first held last year and proved successful. It attracted about 300 participants. Another Fall Fest will be held this Saturday. The Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the festivities.

Strong Tower Designs employee Sophia Borg explained that the Fall Fest allows local merchants and vendors to come together and host a day of fun activities for the community.

Borg said Valley Foods donated 200 pumpkins to the Saratoga Fall Fest. Using the donated pumpkins, attendees can participate in the Platte Valley Arts Council’s pumpkin painting contest for cash prizes.

Borg said the Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring live music. Local vendors will sell products during Saturday’s event.

Saturday’s musical guest is local country artist Kate Elizabeth.

New to this year’s Fall Fest is the roadkill chili cookoff. Borg explained that roadkill is just a clever name, and contestants don’t actually have to use meat found on the road. The event organizer said wild game meat must be used in the chili.

The 2nd Annual Saratoga Fall Fest is this Saturday, October 19th, behind the Wolf Hotel in Saratoga. The event is free to attend.

The Platte Valley Arts Council pumpkin painting contest runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm, with the winners being declared at 2:30. Winners must be present to receive their prizes.
