A fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon at the Saratoga Gun Club’s shooting range on Ryan Park Road.

Shortly before 2 p.m., thick black smoke could be seen rising from the shooting range east of town. Prevailing winds pushed the dark plume of smoke to the north. Sources indicate that tires at the end of the range caught fire.

Saratoga Fire Chief Pat Walliser told Bigfoot99 that the fire started among the old tires used to reinforce the far wall of the shooting range. The flames then spread to the nearby sage brush.

Firefighters from Saratoga, Encampment, Ryan Park, and the Bureau of Land Management battled the brush fire and successfully extinguished the flames by 4:00pm.
