In sports, two underachieving football teams will square off against each other inside War Memorial Stadium tomorrow.

Wyoming and Utah State come into the matchup with identical 1-and-6 records. The Cowboys lone win came against Air Force in a Mountain West matchup at the end of September.

The Aggies won their first game of the season against Pittsburgh business college, Robert Morris. Utah State has lost every game since including a brutal 50-45 loss against New Mexico last week.

Cowboys head football coach Jay Sawvel talked this week about what’s getting his team into trouble against opponents.

A string of injuries have hampered Wyoming since the beginning of the season. Waylee is not expected to be available against the Aggies on Saturday, although he may return before the end of the season after undergoing knee surgery in August.

As part of their effort to dig out of the hole they’ve dug this season, the Wyoming offense will start the game Saturday alternating between two quarterbacks.

Both Evan Svoboda and Kaden Anderson will see action, at least in the first quarter.

Up for grabs in tomorrow’s “Bridger’s Battle” contest is the traveling trophy—a .50 caliber Rocky Mountain Hawken Rifle—considered to be mountain man Jim Bridger’s weapon of choice as he pioneered the western frontier in Wyoming and Utah.

The rivalry between the two schools is one of the oldest in college football history, dating back to 1903. Utah State leads the series 40-to-28 with three ties. Wyoming has won three of the last five matchups dating back to 2017.

Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 5 p.m. Bigfoot 99 will be on the air with the pregame show at 3:30.
