The Rawlins Public Works Director has received a Wyoming Water Quality and Pollution Control Association award.

During the November 5th Rawlins city council meeting, City Manager Tom Sarvey announced that Public Works Director Cody Dill received the award.

Dill was presented with the 2024 George Michael Award last month during the Wyoming Water Quality and Pollution Control Association conference in Casper. WWQ and PCA Media Director Victor Spencer explained that the organization is made up entirely of water and wastewater operators. Every year, the association holds an educational conference to allow the operators to retain their licenses and certifications.

Beyond the training, the annual conference also offers attendees the added benefit of networking with other operators. Spencer said those connections are invaluable for solving problems and issues in their industry.

Every year, the Wyoming Water Quality and Pollution Control Association recognizes a water or wastewater operator who goes above and beyond in their duties. Spencer explained that the George Michael Award, created in 2012, is named after the former Green River wastewater treatment manager.

Spencer said the Wyoming Water Quality and Pollution Control Association rarely nominates operators for the George Michael Award. The nominations typically come from the person’s co-workers or outside agencies, such as the Wyoming Association of Rural Water Systems.

This year, the Wyoming Water Quality and Pollution Control Association presented the George Michael Award to Rawlins Public Works Director Cody Dill. During the November 5th city council meeting, Dill thanked his crew for helping him win the award.

City Manager Sarvey said that all Rawlins staff are hardworking and worthy of recognition.

Last year, Rawlins Water Treatment Operator Carly Brown and Water and Wastewater Supervisor Stevie Osborn were commended during the annual WWQ and PCA conference. Brown was appointed president of the organization and Osborn was presented with the Dr. Robert L. Champlin award for exemplary service in water treatment.
