Wyoming head football coach Jay Sawvel received a friendly phone call following Friday night’s 24-10 loss to Colorado State.

A lot of unhappy Cowboy fans might have had a word or two of their own to give the coach, but steady and insightful advice from somebody who’s been there is always sage.

On the other end of the line, Friday night, was former Cowboy head football coach Craig Bohl. Sawvel did not divulge everything that was said in their private phone call. During yesterday’s news conference, Sawvel said he may reveal more in the future about the private conversation, but he did share some thoughts. It was a shut up and listen kind of a phone call.

The loss may have seemed like the end of the world, but it’s not. Life goes on. This week, the Cowboys play a team they want to emulate moving forward—Boise State. The Broncos come into Laramie this week being talked about for a national post-season run.

This week, they’ll face some Wyoming seniors who will see their season come to an end in a couple of weeks with no shot at a bowl game like previous seasons in their career in Laramie.

No Cowboy fan will forget the chance that Harris gave the Cowboys against Boise State two years ago with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter and Wyoming down 20-17.

The excitement from the thrilling turnover did not last long. One play later, the mood turned to defeat in War Memorial Stadium as quarterback Jayden Clemmons threw an interception in the end zone giving Boise State the win in the wild finish.

The two teams will meet again inside the War. Bigfoot 99 will have the radio broadcast. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
