Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, on Tuesday, issued a statement endorsing the appointment of Chris Wright as the United States Secretary of Energy.

Wright is the CEO of Liberty Energy and is the first nominee for Secretary of Energy who comes directly from the oil and gas industry, having spent his entire career in the sector.

In a statement Tuesday, Governor said, “President Trump has wisely reached into the energy field to select the next Secretary of Energy. Chris Wright has a wealth of experience in the energy industry, including oil, gas and nuclear, and he understands how important it is to produce domestic energy securely.”

The governor continued, “I am confident that he will make the necessary course corrections to support energy programs already underway in Wyoming, including fracking and the use of CO2 for enhanced oil recovery.”

Wright submitted his resignation as CEO of Liberty Energy on Monday following his selection to head up Energy for the Trump White House.

Yesterday, Forbes Magazine described Wright as an innovator and strategic thinker.

Opponents to his appointment on the political left accuse him of being a “climate denier.” Others describe him as a pragmatist.

Wright’s company, Liberty Energy, released a report earlier this year titled “Bettering Human Lives.” In it, Wright lays out his philosophy on energy and climate change. It includes several takeaways:

  1. Energy is essential to life and the world needs more of it.
  2. The modern world is powered by hydrocarbons.
  3. Hydrocarbons supply more than 80% of global energy and thousands of critical materials and products.
  4. Modern alternatives, like solar and wind, provide only a part of electricity demand and do not replace the most critical uses of hydrocarbons. Energy-dense, reliable nuclear could be more impactful.
  5. Making energy more expensive or unreliable, such as wind and solar, compromises people, national security, and the environment.
  6. Climate change is a global challenge but is far from the world’s greatest threat to human life.

Global demand for oil, natural gas, and coal are all at record levels and rising – no energy transition has begun.
