Law enforcement officers discovered methamphetamine and fentanyl during a routine traffic stop in Rawlins.

On Friday afternoon, Carbon County Sheriff Alex Bakken announced that on the previous day, Thursday, November 21st, deputies with the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old James Lezotte following a traffic stop.

In his media release, Sheriff Bakken wrote that during the traffic stop, a Wyoming Highway Patrol K9 unit was called to inspect the vehicle. The K9 officer alerted to the presence of drugs. After searching the suspect’s vehicle, officers discovered felony amounts of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Lezotte was placed under arrest and taken to the Carbon County Jail. The charges include two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver—one for methamphetamine and the other for fentanyl—and is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
