The Wyoming Cowgirls suffered their first Mountain West loss Wednesday night, falling to New Mexico 73-67.
The loss was the fourth straight to the Lobos, including three straight losses at the Pit.
Wyoming got out to a small lead early, but the Lobos put on a 7-nothing sprint in the fourth quarter to seal a win on their home court. Four Cowgirls finished in double-figures, but 15 Wyoming turnovers led to 14 New Mexico points.
Wyoming Head Coach Heather Ezell sized up the loss this way.
The four Cowgirls who finished the night in double figures was led by Allyson Fertig with 17. Tess Barnes and Malene Pedersen added 15 and 14. Barnes made a trio of 3-pointers while Pedersen hit two. Off the bench, McKinley Dickerson added 10 points.
Wyoming is 8-7 overall, and 2-1 in conference play.
