Governor Mark Gordon joined 21 Republican Governors for a meeting with President-elect Trump in Florida on Thursday.

The pow-wow featured 22 of 27 Republican governors from across the country. The state leaders expressed concern about federal overreach under President Biden, and a desire to cooperate with the incoming Trump administration. The key issues identified by the state leaders were natural resource issues and energy policy.

Governor Gordon also shared with the President-elect that Wyoming, like other states, has seen drone incursions over critical infrastructure, which Governors agreed raises national security concerns.

Governor Gordon attended a news conference with fellow state leaders, but did not speak at the podium. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte said the governors share a sense of frustration with the Biden Administration over the unwillingness of Washington Democrats to work with Republican states.

In a statement, Governor Gordon referred to the conference as “a refreshing change” from business as usual during the Biden presidency.

“Instead of being told what DC was planning to do to us, President Trump asked us for help and promised his support. It was a thorough conversation and a call to action,” Governor Gordon said in a statement. “The President-elect has once again demonstrated he recognizes states’ rights and understands many of the issues facing Western states. This leadership shift will bring positive benefits to our energy, mining, agriculture, tourism and business sectors.”

Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin attended the event. The junior senator described the meeting this way:

The meeting followed the Electoral College confirming Trump as the president-elect.

During the dinner meeting, the group was asked about the recent rash of drone sightings across the country, many of them around military bases.

Wyoming’s Governor Mark Gordon responded to the question, saying that unidentified aircraft have been reported recently in the Cowboy State, as well.

The Biden Administration has failed at providing any information to assure the American public about the nature or origin of the drones, which have been spotted over population centers, military installations and industrial sites across much of the nation for the last month or more.

Gordon described last week’s meeting as “productive.”
