The Wyoming Cowgirls punished Boise State on Saturday afternoon inside the Arena Auditorium. It was a go-fast, non-stop 79-45 win. Seniors Emily Mellama and Allyson Fertig both scored 22 points in the romp until Cowgirl Head Coach finally pulled the starters with five minutes to go.

David Settle had the call as Wyoming piled up a 34-point lead, the largest margin of victory over the Broncos in the history of the series.

With the win, the 7-3 Cowgirls locked down second place in Mountain West standings behind only UNLV at 9-1 in Conference play. Colorado State, at 6-3, holds down third place.

Head Coach Heather Ezell said her players executed the scout to a “T.” The head coach broke down how seniors—Mellama and Fertig—scored 22 points, while junior Malene Pederson broke through for 15.

Mellema collected four steals while Fertig pulled down 17 rebounds in the win.

The Cowgirls are off for a week now as it is time for the Bye Week. Wyoming returns to action February 8 with a trip to San Diego State for a 2 p.m., Mountain Time tip.
