At home, inside the Arena Auditorium, the Cowboys trailed most of the way Saturday, falling to the Lobos 68-57.
With seven games remaining in the regular season, New Mexico sits on top of the Mountain West now with 20 wins 0 losses. The Lobos picked up their sixth straight win Saturday. The struggling Cowboys 4-9 in conference play, 11-13 overall, hold down ninth place in the 11-team league.
Missing shots throughout the game, the Cowboys shot just 19 percent from beyond the arc Saturday.
Reliable players like Dontai Allen had no points on the day. A.J. Wills was scoreless, as well. Senior guard Obi Agbim had 14, but did not play much of the second half.
Head Coach blamed it on the mentality his players showed up with on Saturday. Sundance Wicks said the Cowboys showed up with a “victims’ mentality.”
The Cowboys return to action on Wednesday with a trip to New Mexico for an 8p.m tip. Bigfoot 99 will be on the air at 7:30.
